Duties and Responsibilities: The RN - Labor and Delivery will:

• Assess patients’ physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interviews, and review of medical records.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
• Perform therapeutic and diagnostic interventions, including IVs, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collection.
• Advocate for patient safety, rights, and health.
• Provide patient and family education tailored to individual learning needs.
• Foster compassionate, relationship-based care while respecting cultural diversity.
• Delegate tasks to non-RN personnel in accordance with regulations and hospital policies.
• Ensure efficient use of time, personnel, equipment, and supplies to provide high-quality, cost-effective care.
• Serve as a professional role model and mentor to nursing staff and students.
• Engage in ongoing professional development, continuous learning, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Participate in unit-based research, evidence-based practice, and healthcare performance measurement activities.
  
  

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum of one year of nursing experience preferred.
• Knowledge and clinical skills specific to labor and delivery.
  
  

Float Requirements

• Floating may be required within a 60-mile radius of the original assignment location or within a designated CommonSpirit “float zone.”
• Assignments may include duties beyond the original job description, per hospital policy.
  
  

Education & Certifications

• Required: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), State RN license (or NLC-participating license), American Heart Association BLS, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification, Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) or AWHONN Certification.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  
  

Schedule & Compensation

• Start Date: June 23, 2025
• Hours Per Week: 36
• Hours Per Day: 12
• Days Per Week: 3
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts, including weekends.
